Ontario, Canada- A 26-year-old woman from Ludhiana was found dead under mysterious circumstances in Ontario, prompting an investigation by local authorities.
The deceased, Anmoldeep Kaur, had moved to Canada in 2021 for higher studies and employment. According to initial reports, she had gone out for a walk in a park near her residence in Barrie, located close to Georgian College, when the incident occurred.
Passersby reportedly noticed her sitting motionless on a bench and raised concern after she did not respond. Emergency services were alerted, and she was declared unresponsive at the scene. Police subsequently took custody of the body and initiated an inquiry.
Authorities are reviewing CCTV footage from the surrounding area and recording statements from witnesses to determine the sequence of events leading to her death. Officials have not yet confirmed the cause, stating that investigations are ongoing.
Back home, the news has left her family in shock. Her father, Parminder Singh, a retired army subedar, said she had been working as a childcare professional on a valid permit while also building her career abroad. He added that she had applied for permanent residency and was planning to bring her mother to Canada on a visitor visa.
The family has ruled out the possibility of self-harm and has appealed for a detailed and transparent probe into the matter.
Meanwhile, her brother Dilpreet Singh, who resides in the United States, has reached Canada to complete necessary formalities. The family is being assisted by local community organisations in arrangements to bring her remains back to India.
