Mumbai Traffic Row Girish Mahajan Says Woman Should Have Expressed Anger Differently After Viral Confrontation

Woman confronts BJP leader during rally, video sparks debate over public inconvenience

Mumbai- A day after a video showing a woman confronting BJP leader Girish Mahajan over traffic congestion went viral, the minister responded, saying her protest could have been handled in a more appropriate way.

The incident unfolded in Mumbai’s Worli area during a political march linked to the Nari Shakti Vandan Adhiniyam. The rally led to significant traffic disruption, triggering frustration among commuters.

Addressing the episode, Mahajan said the woman approached him while he was speaking to the media and expressed her anger aggressively. He added that she could have chosen to file a complaint with the police instead of reacting publicly.

According to him, police personnel present at the spot attempted to manage the situation, while BJP leaders maintained restraint. He also mentioned that the organisers had prior permission for the rally and that the route had been planned in advance.

The confrontation gained traction online after videos surfaced showing the woman questioning the need to hold a march on busy roads. In the clips, she can be heard demanding that the leaders leave the area and accusing them of causing inconvenience to the public.

The visuals also showed long lines of vehicles stuck in traffic, adding to the outrage on social media.

Political reactions soon followed, with opposition leaders criticising the ruling party for causing disruption in the name of protest. Some alleged that such demonstrations reflect poor planning and disregard for public convenience.

Mahajan, however, assured that future events would be handled more carefully to avoid similar situations.
