Raipur : Chhattisgarh State Power Transmission Company Limited (CSPTCL) has approved a grant of ₹1 crore under its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative for the establishment of a Grid Research, Intelligence and Diagnostic Centre at National Institute of Technology Raipur.
The proposed research centre, initiated by NIT Raipur, aims to strengthen research and development in the power sector, particularly in electrical testing, smart grid analysis, technical upgradation, and skill development. The project received recommendations from Transmission Chairman Subodh Singh and Distribution and Generation Company Chairman Dr. Rohit Yadav.
Managing Director Transmission R.K. Shukla formally handed over the approval and allocation letter to NIT Raipur Director N.V. Ramanarao.
R.K. Shukla stated that while CSPTCL has consistently supported community development activities, this marks the first time the company is extending financial assistance in the field of research and development. He noted that the centre will be the first state-level facility in Chhattisgarh dedicated to advanced electrical testing, technical training, and innovation in the power sector.
The centre will feature NABL-recognised advanced electrical testing facilities and specialized training programmes for engineers, technicians, and students. The project is expected to benefit power utilities, industries, MSMEs, and academic institutions, while also creating employment opportunities for youth across the state.
