Memories of the ‘Martyr Supreme’ Rejuvenated: CM Rekha Gupta Unveils Statue of Bhagat Singh

Very Site Where Bhagat Singh Stood Trial Has Now Become a Center of Inspiration: CM Rekha Gupta

New Delhi, 23 March 2026 : On the occasion of Shaheed Diwas, Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Monday unveiled a grand statue of Shaheed-e-Azam Sardar Bhagat Singh at the RCS office on Parliament Street. She also inaugurated the restored ‘historic court trial room’ within the premises—the very place where Bhagat Singh, Rajguru and Sukhdev were tried during India’s freedom struggle. During the visit, the Chief Minister also inaugurated a cooperative store at the premises and reviewed various public welfare initiatives.

Several prominent leaders attended the event, including Cabinet Ministers Parvesh Sahib Singh, Manjinder Singh Sirsa, Ravindra Indraj Singh, and Kapil Mishra, along with other dignitaries, senior officials, and Yadvinder Singh Sandhu, grandson of Bhagat Singh.

Addressing the gathering, Chief Minister Gupta said March 23 is a day of pride and deep emotional remembrance for the entire nation. “It reminds us of the supreme sacrifice made by our brave freedom fighters, who laid down their lives for the country’s independence,” she said, adding that witnessing these memories being revived at the historic site is a moment of immense pride for every Indian.

She emphasised that preserving and restoring such historic sites is not merely a construction exercise, but a meaningful effort to safeguard the nation’s heritage. “It will help future generations understand the glorious history of the freedom struggle,” she said, urging citizens to visit the site to closely experience the sacrifices and struggles of India’s freedom fighters. The Chief Minister added that the statue of Bhagat Singh would continue to inspire young people and future generations to stand against injustice and dedicate themselves to the nation.

Speaking on the occasion, Social Welfare and Cooperation Minister Ravindra Indraj Singh said the effort was aimed at preserving the legacy of a place where the echoes of “Inquilab Zindabad” once resonated and where Bhagat Singh was produced during the trial. “By installing his statue here, we have not only paid tribute to him but also created a space of inspiration, especially for the youth, where they can learn about his life, thoughts and sacrifice,” he said.

Later, marking Shaheed Diwas, Chief Minister Gupta also paid floral tributes to the statues of Bhagat Singh, Sukhdev and Rajguru at the Delhi Assembly complex. She said the courage, sacrifice and patriotism of these immortal sons of Mother India continue to inspire every generation to walk the path of duty, adding that their sacrifice will always remain a lasting source of inspiration for the nation.
