New Delhi | March 17, 2026: Air India has announced that it will operate 36 additional international flights between March 19 and March 28, 2026, connecting India with major destinations in Europe and North America. The decision comes amid sustained high demand for travel and ongoing disruptions in West Asia airspace.
According to the airline’s official statement, the extra services will operate on key long-haul routes, including Delhi–London (Heathrow), Mumbai–London (Heathrow), Delhi–Frankfurt, Delhi–Zurich, and Delhi–Toronto. Together, these flights will add more than 10,000 seats to the network, providing additional options for passengers during this period.
The additional flights will run from March 19 to March 28 and are being progressively opened for booking through all channels, including the airline’s website, mobile application, and travel agents.
This expansion follows an earlier capacity increase between March 10 and March 18, when Air India operated 78 additional flights across nine international routes to manage rising demand.
Officials stated that the move aims to strengthen international connectivity at a time when global travel routes have been affected by geopolitical developments in the region.
The ongoing situation in West Asia has led to airspace restrictions, forcing airlines to reroute flights and adjust schedules, which has impacted overall capacity and travel times.
Industry reports indicate that several Indian carriers have faced operational challenges due to regional airspace limitations, resulting in longer routes and increased costs.
Air India has been adapting its operations by adding services and modifying routes to maintain reliability and meet passenger requirements. The latest announcement is part of this broader strategy to stabilise international operations.
The airline’s additional services are expected to provide relief to travellers on high-demand long-haul sectors, especially between India, Europe, and Canada.
With bookings now open, the expanded schedule is anticipated to improve seat availability and offer greater flexibility to international passengers during the March travel windoow.
