Delhi CM Orders Completion of All Road and Drainage Works Before Monsoon
The Impressive TimesNew Delhi, March 7: Chief Minister Rekha Gupta has instructed all departments overseeing road and drainage repairs to complete ongoing works before the arrival of monsoon rains, warning that laxity and delays will not be tolerated.
In a high-level review meeting, she stressed that there will be no shortage of budget for development works and directed officials to wrap up all tender-related processes by March end to ensure timely project execution.
The meeting reviewed initiatives under the Chief Minister Development Fund (CMDF), Delhi Village Development Board (DVDB), and Trans-Yamuna Area Development Board (TYADB). Officials were reminded that the pace of work must be visible on the ground and should directly benefit residents across the Capital.
According to the Chief Minister’s Office, a total of 3,812 development projects have been approved so far under CMDF, DVDB, and TYADB, with an estimated combined cost of Rs 1,798.85 crore.
Gupta reiterated that the administration will closely monitor project timelines and quality standards. Departments failing to meet deadlines or showing negligence will be held accountable.
The directive aims to ensure that Delhi’s infrastructure is monsoon-ready, preventing waterlogging, traffic disruptions, and inconvenience to citizens while strengthening essential urban services.
