Approximately ₹235 crore approved for development works in Mehrauli Assembly constituency

New Delhi, 31 January 2026- Delhi Chief Minister  Rekha Gupta on Saturday inaugurated development works worth over ₹135 crore in the Mehrauli Assembly constituency. The launch of these projects in the historic Mehrauli area marks a significant step towards comprehensive rejuvenation of the region and addressing long-pending basic infrastructure needs. She reiterated that, for the first time, the Delhi Government has ensured there is no shortage of funds for development works, enabling timely and comprehensive implementation of projects across all Assembly constituencies.

The programme was attended by South Delhi Member of Parliament Shri Ramvir Singh Bidhuri, Mehrauli MLA Shri Gajender Yadav, along with a large number of local residents. The Chief Minister said that through the inauguration of development projects worth over ₹135 crore today, civic amenities in the Mehrauli Assembly constituency are being strengthened. These projects include reconstruction and repair of roads, renovation of dilapidated chaupals and community buildings, construction of public toilets, beautification of parks, installation of swings for children, and provision of new open gym equipment for youth and senior citizens. She said that upon completion of these works, traffic movement in the area will become smoother, public spaces will be safer, and citizens will benefit from an improved quality of life.

Chief Minister Rekha Gupta emphasised that Mehrauli is not merely an Assembly constituency, but a living symbol of Delhi’s ancient cultural and historical heritage. Home to Maa Yogmaya Temple, gurudwaras, the Iron Pillar, the Archaeological Park and several historic monuments, this land has witnessed thousands of years of history. The Chief Minister clearly stated that for the first time, the Delhi Government has ensured that there is no shortage of funds for development works in any Assembly constituency.

She informed that over ₹235 crore has been sanctioned for the Mehrauli Assembly constituency. Under this allocation, departments such as the Public Works Department, Irrigation and Flood Control Department, Delhi Jal Board and DUSIB are implementing development works in a planned and coordinated manner. The Chief Minister said that this multi-departmental financial support will strengthen infrastructure in the area and ensure that citizens directly benefit from development.

The Chief Minister also assured that several important projects will be taken forward on priority, keeping in view the overall development of the Mehrauli region. She stated that the proposed Badarpur-Mehrauli Elevated Road project will provide major relief to traffic management in the area. In addition, priority will be given to the construction of multi-level parking facilities, a modern hospital with a capacity of 100 to 200 beds, sports grounds for youth, and community buildings to strengthen civic amenities. The Chief Minister said that these projects will provide better basic facilities to the residents of Mehrauli and impart fresh momentum to the region’s development.
