15-Year Haryana Residency Proof Mandatory for Old-Age Pension: Palwal DC Harish Kumar Vashishth

DC takes stern note of viral video; urges citizens to verify facts with district administration before sharing pension-related content on social media

Palwal: Deputy Commissioner Dr. Harish Kumar Vashishth clarified that a 15-year permanent Haryana residency certificate is compulsory to receive the benefits of the Old-Age Pension Scheme. The statement came after a social media video regarding pension eligibility of Sallagarh resident Ram Babu went viral. DC said that Ram Babu is not a permanent resident of Palwal district for the past 15 years. The investigation revealed he is originally from Etah district in Uttar Pradesh and shifted to Palwal only a few years ago. As he does not hold the required 15-year permanent Haryana residency proof, his pension application could not be approved under the prescribed rules. Deputy Commissioner appealed to citizens to verify any pension-related information with the district administration before posting videos or claims on social media to avoid misleading the public.

He further stated that, as per state government guidelines, eligibility criteria including residency period, age, income limit, and other parameters are strictly enforced to ensure transparency in pension schemes. If an applicant does not meet the criteria, benefits cannot be granted. However, if Ram Babu completes the mandatory 15-year residency period in the future or submits the required documents, his application will be reconsidered and processed as per rules. DC urged all citizens to keep their documents complete and follow eligibility norms before applying for any pension or social security scheme. He reaffirmed that the district administration remains sensitive to public concerns and is committed to ensuring that every eligible person receives the benefits of government schemes.
