The RP-Sanjiv Goenka Group proposes to set up a 3 GW Solar Cell and integrated solar ecosystem hub at YEIDA, along with a 60 MW captive Solar + Energy Storage (ESS) plant in Uttar Pradesh. With an investment of over Rs.3,000 crore, the project will significantly boost India’s renewable energy transition while positioning Uttar Pradesh as a leader in solar manufacturing. The initiative will focus on advanced solar technologies such as TOPCon and Perovskite-Tandem cells, which promise efficiencies above 28–30%. These innovations are expected to lower power costs by 10–15% while placing India at the forefront of global solar R&D and manufacturing. The project will also create a robust integrated ecosystem, including ancillary units for frames, encapsulants, and process consumables—bringing substantial domestic value addition and reducing India’s heavy dependence on imported solar modules (currently ~90%). Importantly, it will generate over 1,200 direct and 4,000 indirect jobs, while developing advanced skills aligned with both renewable energy and semiconductor industries. This project reflects the Group’s commitment to driving innovation, self-reliance, and sustainable growth, while contributing to India’s long-term energy security. On Wednesday, YEIDA CEO Rakesh Kumar Singh has issued a Letter of Intent (LoI) of 100 acres land in sector-8D for establishing the unit.
