CP Delhi Hoists Tricolour at Police Headquarters, Outlines Roadmap Inspired by Prime Minister’s Independence Day Speech

New Delhi – To mark the 79th Independence Day, S.B.K. Singh, IPS, Commissioner of Police, Delhi, hoisted the Tricolour at Police Headquarters, Jai Singh Road. Addressing the gathering, he congratulated Delhi Police officers, staff, and their families on the occasion and lauded the force for ensuring incident-free security arrangements during Independence Day celebrations.

Drawing inspiration from the Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s address from the Red Fort, the Commissioner highlighted three key focus areas for Delhi Police to adopt in a mission mode — self-reliance (Atmanirbharta), greater use of technology, and fostering healthy competition.

On self-reliance, CP Delhi directed units to prepare proposals within 15 days to reduce dependence on other agencies for resources like commandos, bomb disposal squads, and wireless sets. Stressing on the use of technology, he instructed specialized units to form committees and come up with concrete proposals within a month to enhance capabilities in cybercrime prevention, anti-drone technology, surveillance, and counter-terror measures. Emphasizing healthy competition, he urged officers to cultivate a spirit of progress over jealousy, both individually and organizationally.

Acknowledging challenges, CP Delhi noted that despite working tirelessly, Delhi Police still needs to strengthen public trust. He advised personnel to shed feudal attitudes and adopt a mindset of Sewa Bhav (service-oriented approach) so that citizens feel comfortable approaching the police in times of need.

On this occasion, CP Delhi also congratulated 18 officers and personnel who were conferred Police Medals for Distinguished and Meritorious Service.
