Noida Man Kills Wife Over Suspected Affair

Noida : In a shocking case of domestic violence, a man allegedly murdered his wife by bludgeoning her with a hammer at their residence in Noida’s upscale Sector 15 on Friday afternoon, before walking over two kilometres to the nearest police station to surrender. The horrifying incident has sent shockwaves through the neighbourhood and raised fresh concerns over domestic abuse and mental health issues in households.

The victim, Asma Khan, a 35-year-old civil engineer, was employed at a private firm in Sector 62. She lived with her husband and their two children in a rented accommodation in Sector 15. According to police, the accused, her husband Sohail Khan, suspected her of having an extramarital affair—a suspicion that turned fatal.

Senior police officers said that around 2 p.m., Sohail allegedly attacked Asma with a hammer during an argument while the children were at school. “The accused struck her multiple times on the head and face, leading to her death on the spot,” said DCP Harish Chander. “After committing the crime, he calmly walked to the Sector 20 police station and confessed.”

Police rushed to the house and found Asma lying in a pool of blood in the bedroom. The murder weapon—a bloodstained hammer—was recovered from the scene. The couple’s children, aged 10 and 7, were later taken into the care of relatives.

Preliminary investigations suggest that Sohail had been unemployed for several months and had frequent altercations with his wife over her work and social interactions. Neighbours reported hearing arguments from the house in the past but said they never imagined the situation would escalate to such a horrific level.

Sohail has been arrested and booked under Section 302 of the Indian Penal Code (murder). He is currently in police custody and will be produced in court on Saturday.

“We are also arranging counselling and psychological support for the children, who have suffered a traumatic loss,” DCP Chander added.

This brutal incident has raised concerns among women’s rights groups and local residents, who are urging authorities to strengthen mechanisms to detect and prevent domestic abuse.
