From the outset, UP Rudras displayed their dominance on the field, looking the stronger team. They made a positive start with effective ball possession and more circle entries. The Rudras also won the first penalty corner (PC) of the match, but their attempt was thwarted when Kane Russell’s variation with Sam Ward failed, as Ward’s shot went wide.

The initial quarter saw UP Rudras controlling the ball, with local talent Sudeep Chirmako showing off some impressive attacking skills. He made a couple of forays into the striking circle, but despite their dominance, the first quarter ended 0-0.

In the second quarter, Rudras came close to taking the lead again with another penalty corner opportunity. However, the drag flick went straight to the keeper, and although Lalit Upadhyay pounced on the rebound, his shot went off-target. The Rudras continued to maintain pressure, but Delhi SG Pipers struck first in the 29th minute when captain Jake Whetton scored a brilliant goal. Whetton showcased his skill by weaving through the defenders and taking a daring shot that found the back of the net, giving Delhi SG Pipers the lead.

However, the lead was short-lived. The Rudras responded immediately, with Floris Wortelboer scoring a swift equalizer just a minute later. The teams were back to square one, with the score tied at 1-1.

The game took a significant turn in the 43rd minute, when Rudras were awarded another penalty corner. Kane Russell made no mistake, powering a shot past the keeper to give UP Rudras a 2-1 lead. Delhi SG Pipers fought hard to stay in the game, but UP Rudras’ defense held firm in the final quarter.

Delhi SG Pipers had a chance to equalize early in the final quarter when they won a penalty corner. However, their efforts were thwarted, as the shot failed to generate any serious threat on goal. Cosyns’ execution was precise, sealing the game for UP Rudras.

With less than five minutes remaining, Delhi SG Pipers had another penalty corner, but once again, they were unable to capitalize. The Rudras held strong in defense, successfully maintaining their lead and securing a 3-1 victory.
