The Mahakumbh, which takes place once every 12 years, is expected to draw more than 45 crore visitors from around the world, and the authorities are determined to provide a safe environment for all attendees. The event will span from January 13 to February 26, 2025, making robust security arrangements a top priority.

Uttar Pradesh’s Director General of Police (DGP), Prashant Kumar, confirmed that comprehensive security measures have been put in place to handle the massive turnout expected at the event. These measures are designed to ensure the safety of devotees and participants during the entire duration of the Mahakumbh.

In response to the Chief Minister’s directives, the Uttar Pradesh Police have established an extensive security framework for the event. A circular security system has been set up with 102 checkpoints strategically placed along seven critical routes leading into Prayagraj. These checkpoints will facilitate thorough checks and frisking of vehicles and individuals to ensure no threats reach the venue.

He announced the deployment of over 1,000 police personnel to oversee security arrangements. In addition to these officers, 71 inspectors, 234 sub-inspectors, 645 constables, and 113 Home Guards/Prantiya Rakshak Dal (PRD) jawans have been assigned to monitor the massive gathering, ensuring all measures are strictly followed.

Furthermore, to bolster surveillance and deter any potential security threats, advanced technology and equipment will be in use. The security detail will include five Vajra vehicles for rapid response, 10 drones for aerial surveillance, and four anti-sabotage teams that will monitor for any suspicious activity. These teams will be deployed to patrol the area around the clock, enhancing security and providing immediate response capabilities in case of an emergency.

As millions of devotees and pilgrims make their way to Prayagraj for the Mahakumbh, the security arrangements will also extend to crowd control, managing traffic, and providing assistance to those in need. The Uttar Pradesh government has emphasized the importance of ensuring the safety of all attendees while also making provisions for a seamless flow of traffic and efficient management of crowds.

The Mahakumbh is one of the largest peaceful gatherings in the world, and the efforts made by the Uttar Pradesh Police are crucial to its success. The authorities remain vigilant and well-prepared to deal with any challenges that may arise, ensuring that the spiritual event unfolds without any major incidents. The cooperation between the state government, security forces, and local administration will be key to the smooth operation of the Mahakumbh 2025.
