Kolkata, May 4, 2026: In a politically significant development amid the Bharatiya Janata Party’s sweeping rise in West Bengal, BJP candidate Ratna Debnath, mother of the RG Kar victim, established a decisive lead in the Panihati Assembly constituency during ongoing vote counting on Monday.
According to Election Commission trends from the second segment of the fifteenth counting round, Debnath was ahead by 8,067 votes over her nearest challenger, Trinamool Congress candidate Tirthankar Ghosh.
