Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar : 4 Killed, 13 Injured as Truck Loses Control

Maharashtra : Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, Maharashtra: A tragic road accident claimed the lives of four labourers and left 13 others injured when a speeding truck overturned in the early hours of the morning in the Pishor Ghat section of Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar district.

According to police officials, the accident occurred when a truck carrying sugarcane was en route from Kannad to Pishor. The vehicle was transporting 17 labourers, who were reportedly seated on top of the sugarcane load. The driver lost control of the vehicle while navigating a steep curve, causing it to overturn. The impact was severe, resulting in the instant death of four workers, while 13 others sustained injuries of varying degrees.

Emergency response teams and local residents rushed to the scene to assist in rescue efforts. The injured labourers were quickly transported to a nearby hospital, where they are currently receiving treatment. Authorities have not yet confirmed the identities of the deceased, but efforts are being made to contact their families.

Preliminary investigations suggest that the accident may have been caused by reckless driving and overloading, a common issue on rural roads where labourers often travel atop goods-laden trucks. Police have launched an investigation into the incident and are questioning the truck driver, who reportedly sustained minor injuries.

This accident highlights the dangers faced by daily-wage labourers who rely on unsafe modes of transport for their livelihood. Officials have urged transporters to adhere to safety guidelines to prevent such tragedies.
