Nuh Jail Stall draws crowds at 38th Surajkund International Crafts Fair

Handicrafts and Food Products Made by Haryana Prisoners Receive Enthusiastic Response

Surajkund (Faridabad), February 12,2025 : The 38th Surajkund International Crafts Fair has introduced a remarkable initiative this year, bringing forth a stall showcasing handicrafts and food products created by inmates from 19 different jails across Haryana. Among these, items crafted by prisoners from Nuh, Hisar, Ambala, Karnal, and Kaithal jails have garnered significant attention from visitors. The exquisite craftsmanship and quality of these products have made the Nuh Jail stall a major highlight of the fair.

The stalls feature a diverse range of handmade products, including intricately designed bags, chairs, paintings, and other handcrafted decorative items. Additionally, an assortment of food products such as biscuits, namkeen, and cookies prepared by the inmates has been a major attraction. The Nuh Jail stall, in particular, has drawn large crowds, with visitors appreciating the skill and effort of the prisoners in creating these high-quality goods.Speaking about the initiative, official Yogeshwar highlighted that the primary aim of this program is to provide employment opportunities to inmates while they serve their sentences. A unique aspect of the initiative is that 50% of the earnings generated from the sales of these products are directed towards the families of the prisoners. This financial support not only helps improve the economic condition of their households but also encourages inmates to engage in productive activities during their time in prison.

The fair has witnessed a great deal of enthusiasm among visitors for the handcrafted products and food items made by the prisoners. Artistic creations, including paintings and decorative pieces, have received an overwhelmingly positive response, further motivating the inmates to continue honing their skills.

This initiative plays a crucial role in rehabilitating prisoners by making them self-reliant and preparing them for reintegration into society. By providing them with a platform to showcase their skills, the program helps inmates build a sense of self-worth and dignity while simultaneously supporting their families. Through such initiatives, efforts are being made to not only reform the lives of prisoners but also to create a positive impact on their future, allowing them to contribute meaningfully to society.
