Two Dead, 20 Injured as Mumbai-Bound Train Derails in Jharkhand

Rescue Operations Underway as NDRF Team Deployed Following Early Morning Accident

Jharkhand, July 30, 2024 — Tragedy struck early this morning as two people were confirmed dead and at least 20 others injured when approximately 18 coaches of the Howrah-Mumbai Mail derailed near Badabamboo, around 80 km from Jamshedpur. The accident occurred at around 3:45 AM.

The derailment involved 16 passenger coaches, one power car, and one pantry car of the train bound for Mumbai. A goods train had also derailed in the vicinity, though it is unclear if the two incidents are related.

West Singhbhum Deputy Commissioner Kuldeep Chaudhary reported that rescue operations are currently underway, with a National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) team en route to the site. The Railways’ medical team has provided initial first aid to the injured, who have been transported to Chakradharpur for further treatment.
