Rohit Sharma’s Condition Addressed by Assistant Coach Before Big Match

New Delhi : Ahead of India’s crucial ICC Champions Trophy 2025 Group A clash against New Zealand on Sunday, assistant coach Ryan ten Doeschate provided an update on Rohit Sharma. Speaking to reporters in Dubai, ten Doeschate assured that Rohit is managing his injury effectively. “He’s all right. As you can see, he’s batting, and he did a little bit of fielding earlier. It’s an injury he’s had before, so he knows how to manage it really well, and he’s on top of it,” he said.

India is set to face a strong New Zealand side in a highly anticipated Group A encounter, with both teams vying for a spot in the semi-finals. Rohit Sharma’s fitness has been a key point of discussion ahead of the match, as the Indian captain plays a crucial role in the team’s batting lineup. His presence at the top of the order provides stability, and his ability to accelerate the innings will be vital against the Kiwi bowling attack.

Ten Doeschate further elaborated on the team’s preparations, emphasizing the importance of adaptability in the tournament. “New Zealand is a quality side, and we are aware of their strengths. Our focus is on executing our plans efficiently. We’ve had intense training sessions, and the team is confident heading into this game.”

Meanwhile, India’s head coach, Rahul Dravid, also weighed in on the team’s strategy. He highlighted the importance of maintaining momentum in a high-pressure tournament like the Champions Trophy. “We have a balanced squad, and everyone understands their roles. The conditions in Dubai can be challenging, but the boys have played here before, and we’re prepared for all scenarios.”

Apart from Rohit Sharma, the fitness of key bowlers like Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Siraj is also being closely monitored. The Indian pace attack is expected to play a crucial role against New Zealand’s top order, with spinners like Ravindra Jadeja and Kuldeep Yadav likely to be influential in the middle overs.

New Zealand, on the other hand, comes into this match with confidence after a strong performance in their previous game. Led by Kane Williamson, the Black Caps will look to challenge India’s batting depth and exploit any weaknesses in the bowling attack.
