Rahul Dravid’s Son, Samit Dravid, Selected for India U-19 Team for Multi-Format Series Against Australia

New Delhi : Samit Dravid, the son of former India captain and current head coach Rahul Dravid, has been selected for the India Under-19 team for the upcoming multi-format series against Australia. This announcement marks a significant milestone in Samit’s budding cricket career, as he steps into the international arena with high expectations given his lineage.

Currently, Samit is playing for Mysore Warriors in the KSCA Maharaja T20 Trophy in Bengaluru. Although his performance in the tournament has been modest, with only 82 runs from seven innings and a highest score of 33, he has shown potential as a pace-bowling all-rounder. Notably, he has not bowled in the tournament so far, which could be part of his strategic development as an all-rounder.

The India Under-19 team will face Australia in a series that includes three one-day matches and two four-day games. The one-day series is scheduled to be held in Puducherry on September 21, 23, and 26, with Mohammad Amaan from Uttar Pradesh leading the team. Following this, the series will move to Chennai for two four-day matches starting on September 30 and October 7, where the team will be captained by Soham Patwardhan from Madhya Pradesh.

Despite his recent performances in the T20 tournament, Samit has demonstrated considerable promise earlier this year. In the Cooch Behar Trophy, he played a crucial role in Karnataka’s maiden title win, contributing significantly to the team’s success. His all-round abilities and experience from such tournaments have evidently caught the selectors’ attention, earning him a spot in the Under-19 squad.

The selection of Samit Dravid for the Under-19 team is seen as a major step in his cricketing journey, especially under the shadow of his father’s illustrious career. The young cricketer will be looking to make the most of this opportunity to showcase his talent on an international stage, especially in a series as important as the one against Australia.

As the series against Australia approaches, all eyes will be on the younger Dravid to see if he can carry forward the legacy of his father, who is known for his resilience and skill. With the guidance of experienced coaches and a supportive team environment, Samit Dravid has the platform to develop his game further and make a significant impact.
