Adherence to Model Code of Conduct- Key meeting of Administrative and Police Officers held in Gurugram

Detailed discussion held regarding maintaining law and order with mutual coordination and conducting peaceful voting

Gurugram, April 30, 2024 – Ahead of the Lok Sabha elections 2024, a joint meeting was held on Monday late evening at Gurugram, with the Returning Officer of Gurugram Lok Sabha and Deputy Commissioner, Sh. Nishant Kumar Yadav, and Commissioner of Police, Gurugram, Sh. Vikas Arora along with Administrative and Police officers from the bordering districts of Delhi, Rajasthan, and Haryana.

In the meeting, discussions were held regarding ensuring law and order and conducting peaceful voting during the election period. Discussions were held on mutual coordination. Deputy Commissioners and SSPs of Faridabad, Rewari, Palwal, Nuh, Jhajjar, Charkhi Dadri, Mahendragarh, South Delhi, Alwar, Tijara, Kotputli, Bhiwadi, and Deeg attended the meeting.

In the meeting detailed discussions were held regarding security and surveillance on inter-state and inter-district borders during elections, maintaining law and order, measures to prevent the influence of anti-social elements and illegal substances, and exchanging information through various means in the bordering police stations of the state. Besides this, information was shared about the monitoring and security measures being taken.

The Deputy Commissioners, SSPs, and their representatives expressed their opinions and emphasized on keeping a special vigil at checkpoints. During the meeting, it was decided to provide a list of habitual criminals and miscreants along with the special border checking with the concerned officers.


The Deputy Commissioner-cum-Returning Officer, Gurugram, Sh. Nishant Kumar Yadav emphasized mutual coordination and strengthening the information system. He stated that coordination and mutual understanding need to be improved during the election process. He emphasized installing CCTV cameras on various routes in bordering districts to ensure regular monitoring of activities along the borders. He emphasized increasing regular checking and patrolling between borders, among other activities.

Sh. Nishant Kumar Yadav directed the officers to establish mutual coordination, monitor CCTV cameras, conduct checking campaigns, hold regular meetings, and monitor other activities. He suggested closely monitoring delivery personnel from various companies during this period. Additionally, he said that all vehicles should undergo inspection 48 hours before the scheduled election date.

During the meeting, discussions were held regarding postal ballots, election duty certificates, sharing information about parol jumper activities around areas near state borders, and discussing individuals involved in creating disturbances during elections. Plans were also made to take effective action against them.

Commissioner of Police, Sh. Vikas Arora said that security forces should be deployed at all sensitive locations during elections. Conducting impartial and peaceful elections is our priority and responsibility. He said that close vigil should be kept on illegal substances, including illicit liquor, affecting the elections on the borders of all three states. He said that all police officers of the bordering districts should remain vigilant about the movement of criminals. He said that better results would be achieved through coordination and cooperation.
