NEW DELHI , 21 October , 2024 – Mayor Dr. Shelly Oberoi today inaugurated the spraying of anti-mosquito medicine through drone technology to prevent vector-borne diseases in waterlogging affected areas in Ward No. 33 Rani Khera under Narela zone. Under this campaign anti-mosquito medicine was sprayed in a wide area, which will help in preventing vector-borne diseases like dengue, malaria and chikungunya.

Delhi Mayor Dr. Shelly Oberoi said that for the first time in Delhi anti-mosquito medicine is being sprayed through drones. The Mayor said that due to record-breaking rains in Delhi this year many places had to face waterlogging. He said that first of all we have to eliminate the waterlogging after the rain and after that vector-borne diseases will be prevented. Mayor Dr. Shelly Oberoi said that in the last 2-3 months awareness programs are being run at many levels to prevent vector-borne diseases such as children are being made aware in schools and meetings are also being held with RWAs. The Mayor said that working in this direction for the first time in Delhi anti-mosquito medicine is being sprayed through drones.

She said that the AAP government of Municipal Corporation of Delhi has fulfilled the promises made by Shri Arvind Kejriwal. She said that now the corporation’s sanitation workers are being paid their salaries in the first week of the month. Earlier, the corporation’s sanitation workers were not able to get permanent jobs till the age of retirement but since the Aam Aadmi Party government came to power in Municipal Corporation of Delhi we have made 10,000 sanitation workers permanent. The Mayor said that after the Aam Aadmi Party government came to power in the corporation the sanitation system of Delhi has improved. She said that work is going on day and night on the mountains of garbage. The Mayor said that the public representatives of the Aam Aadmi Party are committed to help the citizens of Delhi in every possible way.

The Mayor requested the citizens not to let water collect around them. Dr. Shelly Oberoi said that there is no drainage facility at some places in Rani Khera ward and due to record breaking rains this year, there were a lot of difficulties in doing anti-larva work here. The mayor said that keeping all these things in mind for the first time in Delhi anti-mosquito medicine is being sprayed through drones. She said that this campaign will be run all over Delhi. The Mayor said that the Aam Aadmi Party tries to do something new for the convenience of the citizens. She said that through drones, medicine can be sprayed even in those areas where corporation employees cannot go.

In Rani Khera ward of Narela zone insecticide was sprayed in about 15 hectares through drones today. The mayor said that anti-mosquito medicine will be sprayed in this area for 4 to 5 days through drones. It was quite challenging for the employees of Municipal Corporation of Delhi to spray anti-mosquito medicine through traditional means in these waterlogged areas. Apart from this, there is also a danger of dangerous poisonous creatures like snakes, scorpions etc. in these areas. It will be possible to spray mosquito repellent medicine in these difficult places through drones. This effort of the Municipal Corporation of Delhi is an important contribution towards ensuring the safety of the health of Delhiites and prevention of vector-borne diseases.
