Faridabad – Department of journalism and mass communication of Dav Centenary College, Faridabad proudly celebrated Doordarshan Day on 14th September 2024 with a grand seminar cum workshop, marking the 65th anniversary of India’s national broadcaster. The event was graced by the presence of esteemed Guest of Honour, Ms. Pratima Sharma, a renowned anchor, news personality, and broadcaster with 24 years of experience.
Ms. Sharma has had a distinguished career in the broadcasting industry, comprising:
☑️Comparing numerous prestigious programs
☑️Dubbing for several films
☑️Working as a radio jockey for AIR FM Gold
☑️Providing voice-overs for various projects
The seminar commenced with a vibrant cultural program, showcasing the talents of media students. The event also witnessed the launch of the college’s news bulletin, highlighting the institution’s commitment to promoting journalism and mass communication.
Ms. Pratima Sharma shared her insights on the evolution of broadcasting and the significance of Doordarshan in India’s media landscape. Her address was followed by an engaging Q&A session, where students and faculty interacted with her on various aspects of the industry.
Ms. Rachna Kasana, Head of the Department of Journalism and Mass Communication, also shared her views on Doordarshan’s impact on Indian television and its continued relevance in the digital age.

In an exciting culmination, students of the Journalism and Mass Communication (JMC) department conducted an exclusive interview with Ms. Pratima Sharma, gaining vital insights into her experiences and expertise.
The event was attended by faculty members from the JMC department, including Mr. Virender, Radhika, Kritika, and professors from other departments, who came to grace the occasion.
The entire program was organized under the guidance of overall coordinator of SFS, Dr. Ruchi Malhotra.
Approximately 80 students benefited from this seminar cum workshop, which yielded a highly fruitful outcome. The program’s success can be attributed to:
