District Election Officer Dr. Harish Kumar Vashisht issues stern warning to election duty officials

Strict action will be taken against 22 Presiding Officers and 30 Assistant Presiding Officers absent from training

Palwal , 6 September , 2024 : In preparation for the upcoming 2024 assembly elections, District Election Officer and Deputy Commissioner Dr. Harish Kumar Vashisht on Friday conducted a training session for Presiding Officers (POs) and Assistant Presiding Officers (APOs) at the Indoor Stadium. During the session, 22 POs and 30 APOs were found absent, on which DC Harish Kumar Vashisht warned that strict action will be taken against those who do not attend the rehearsal. Stressing the important nature of election duty, he said that there is no scope for mistake in it. He reminded the officers and staff that many of them have worked in previous elections as well and they should be well aware of their responsibilities. He further warned that no officer or employee deployed on election duty should remain absent during training or rehearsals, failure to do so would lead to serious consequences for which they would be held personally accountable.

He outlined that strict disciplinary measures, including suspension or legal action, could be taken against those who do not fulfill their duties. The training session covered various aspects of election management, including handling voting machines, ensuring voter identification, maintaining order at polling stations, and adhering to the Election Commission’s guidelines.

He also mentioned that every officer must remain vigilant about their roles, as even minor errors can disrupt the election process. Dr. Vashisht assured that the administration is taking all necessary steps to ensure free, fair, and transparent elections. He urged officers to work diligently and demonstrate their commitment to the democratic process, stating that the success of the elections depends on the efficient and responsible execution of their duties.
