New Delhi: On the eve of International Women’s Day 2025, President Droupadi Murmu extended her warm greetings to the people of India, emphasizing the significance of the occasion in celebrating the strength, achievements, and contributions of women across all walks of life.
In her message, President Murmu highlighted that International Women’s Day is not just a day of recognition but a moment to honor the resilience and determination of women who have excelled in various fields despite facing adversities. She acknowledged the integral role women play in shaping families, societies, and the nation, underscoring their immense contributions to India’s progress.
The President lauded women achievers in different sectors, including science, education, politics, sports, business, and social work. She noted that women have broken barriers and carved out their own identities, proving their excellence and leadership in every sphere. However, she also pointed out that there is still a long way to go in ensuring that all women have access to equal opportunities and a safe environment.
“Women are the foundation of the family, society, and the nation. Their strength, perseverance, and contributions are invaluable. Despite challenges, they continue to rise and inspire. However, we must acknowledge that a lot remains to be done to improve the socio-economic conditions of women,” President Murmu stated.
President Murmu urged society to work collectively toward creating an environment where every woman feels safe, respected, and empowered. She called for concrete efforts to ensure gender equality, particularly in areas such as education, employment, and leadership opportunities.
“The true progress of a nation is measured by the status of its women. On this occasion, let us pledge to create a society where every woman feels safe and gets equal opportunities to move ahead,” she said.
She also stressed the need for continuous efforts from the government, institutions, and communities to bridge gender disparities, support women entrepreneurs, and strengthen laws that protect women’s rights.
