Jammu & Kashmir, July22, 2024 : In a pre-dawn operation on Monday, the Indian Army successfully thwarted a major terrorist attack targeting a Village Development Committee (VDC) house in Gunda village, Rajouri, Jammu and Kashmir. The incident escalated into an intense exchange of gunfire, prompting a swift response and ongoing search operations in the region, as confirmed by the White Knight Corps.

“Op Gunda: Terrorists attacked a VDC house at Gunda, Rajouri at 0310h. A nearby Army column reacted and a firefight ensued. Operations are continuing,” tweeted the White Knight Corps.

According to reports, the terrorists initially attempted to assault the residence of an ex-serviceman but retreated upon encountering security forces. Subsequently, they targeted an Army post in the Gunda area, triggering a retaliatory response from troops stationed there.

“While details are still emerging, it is reported that a soldier and a civilian may have sustained injuries during the exchange,” stated an Indian Army spokesperson.

Visuals from the area depict security forces conducting a nighttime search operation, with reports of renewed gunfire prompting an ongoing cordon and search effort in the vicinity.
