New Delhi, June 9, 2025 – The Technology Development Board (TDB), under the Department of Science and Technology (DST), has extended crucial financial support to M/s Autocracy Machinery Pvt. Ltd., Hyderabad, to commercialize their advanced, home-grown trenching technology. This move aims to revolutionize India’s underground infrastructure development with cutting-edge, terrain-adapted machinery designed specifically for Indian conditions.
Trenching machines are essential for laying optical fiber cables, water and gas pipelines, and are pivotal in sectors such as solar energy, agriculture, and defense. Currently, most trenchers are imported and often unsuitable for India’s diverse terrains. Autocracy Machinery’s indigenous product range—including models like RUDRA 100XT, GAJA 200XT, and VAH 150—is tractor-mounted and engineered for precision trenching with minimal soil disruption, making them ideal for urban, rural, and challenging landscapes.
Founded by visionary entrepreneur Ms. Santhoshi Sushma Budhiraju, Autocracy Machinery is a startup committed to positioning India as a leader in specialized construction and agricultural equipment. With a dedicated R&D team, the company is establishing a manufacturing hub to meet domestic demand and explore export opportunities.
This TDB-backed initiative promises multiple strategic benefits:
Drastically reduce India’s reliance on imported trenching equipment through full indigenization
Develop export-quality trenchers that meet international standards
Generate employment and skill development in rural and semi-urban areas
Strengthen MSMEs via local supply chain integration
Boost the Atmanirbhar Bharat mission by fostering a resilient domestic machinery sector
Promote environmental sustainability through efficient and low-impact trenching
Commenting on the support, Secretary of TDB, Mr. Rajesh Kumar Pathak said,
“TDB’s partnership with Autocracy Machinery reflects our dedication to empowering startups that drive tangible impact. Their innovation aligns perfectly with India’s goals for enhanced connectivity, self-reliance in manufacturing, and smart infrastructure development.”
Expressing gratitude, Ms. Santhoshi Sushma Budhiraju and Mr. Laxman V., founders of Autocracy Machinery, stated,
“We are thankful to TDB for backing our vision of creating world-class trenchers made in India. With this support, we aim to provide contractors, farmers, and infrastructure developers with efficient, sustainable solutions that pave the way for future-ready infrastructure.”
