Talladega Chaos: Massive NASCAR ‘Big One’ Crash Involves 26 Cars, Bubba Wallace Reacts

Chain-reaction pile-up halts race as top drivers eliminated in one of season’s biggest wrecks

Talladega- A dramatic multi-car crash during a NASCAR race at Talladega left at least 26 vehicles damaged, forcing a red flag and bringing the race to a standstill in Alabama.

The incident unfolded during Lap 116 in Stage 2 when Bubba Wallace, who was leading the pack at the time, lost control after being pushed from behind. His car slammed into the outer wall, triggering a chain-reaction collision — commonly referred to in NASCAR as “The Big One.”

The high-speed nature of racing at Talladega Superspeedway, where cars run in tight packs at nearly 200 mph, contributed to the scale of the wreck. With little room to maneuver, trailing drivers were unable to avoid the crash, leading to a massive pile-up involving most of the field.

Early reports indicated that several prominent drivers, including Kyle Larson, Joey Logano, Ryan Blaney, and William Byron, were caught in the incident, effectively ending their race.

Reacting after the crash, Wallace expressed disappointment, calling the outcome “unfortunate” and acknowledging his role in the incident. He said the team would need to improve coordination during high-speed pushes and admitted responsibility for the outcome. Despite the setback, he remained hopeful about bouncing back in future races.

Joey Logano also voiced frustration, noting that such pile-ups are often inevitable at Talladega due to the aggressive pack racing style. Officials quickly halted the race as emergency crews assessed the damage and ensured driver safety.

The crash is being described as one of the most destructive incidents of the current NASCAR season, with damage assessments still ongoing.
