RS MP Surendra Singh Nagar Launches ‘PM Van’ in Greater Noida West on World Environment Day

Leads ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’ plantation drive in Sector 16B; Greater Noida Authority targets 1.34 lakh saplings this year

Greater Noida: Rajya Sabha MP Surendra Singh Nagar launched the ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’ campaign on World Environment Day by planting saplings in the green belt of Sector 16B, Greater Noida West, and urged citizens to contribute towards a greener future.

He said providing a clean environment to future generations is a shared responsibility and called for extensive plantation and proper care of trees. In the presence of Greater Noida Authority OSDs Abhishek Pathak and Girish Kumar Jha, MP named the green belt ‘PM Van’ and announced that 30 saplings would be planted there every month. He also stressed regular maintenance of plants and the plantation of similar species in designated areas.

The Greater Noida Authority also carried out plantation drives near Coco County in Sector 10 and in the green belt at Milk Lachhi, where saplings of Pilkhan, Amaltas, Gulmohar, Neem and Jamun were planted. Several RWAs and social organisations actively participated in the campaign. The Authority has set a target of planting around 1.34 lakh saplings this year.

However, CEO Ravi Kumar NG has directed the Horticulture Department to exceed the target. ACEO Srilakshmi VS appealed for greater public participation and encouraged residents to plant and nurture trees in homes, parks, roadsides and green belts. DGM (Horticulture) S.K. Jain, Assistant Director (Horticulture) Natholi Singh, Senior Managers Ram Kumar and Shyama Prasad, and Junior Engineer Harinder Singh were among those present during the plantation drive.
