New Delhi | June 3, 2025– A high-level meeting was convened today under the chairpersonship of Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta to review waste management and sanitation in the capital’s markets. Delhi’s Minister for Development, Shri Kapil Mishra, was present on the occasion. Senior officials from the market boards and the Department of Urban Development also attended the meeting.
During the meeting, various suggestions were presented regarding the effective disposal of waste generated in the markets. A comprehensive review of these suggestions was undertaken. The government affirmed that maintaining cleanliness and order in Delhi’s markets is among its key priorities.
It was decided that coordination with relevant departments will be strengthened to further improve the sanitation systems in the markets. A follow-up meeting will be held soon to review the progress made in this regard.
The government believes that active participation of vendors is essential to keep the markets clean. Awareness initiatives will be undertaken for both vendors and consumers to ensure collective responsibility towards hygiene.
To ensure that clean and safe food items reach people’s homes, the government will take all necessary measures to maintain hygiene and sanitation in the markets.
