New Delhi, March 14, 2024: In a significant achievement, the NTPC Group has surpassed the remarkable milestone of 400 Billion Units (BU) of total electricity generation in the current financial year, marking a substantial increase over the previous year’s figures. The milestone was achieved on March 13, 2024, underscoring the Group’s steadfast commitment to power generation excellence.
During the fiscal year 2022-23, the NTPC Group had recorded a total electricity generation of 399.3 BU, making the current year’s accomplishment all the more noteworthy.
This outstanding feat was made possible with an average Plant Loading Factor (PLF) of 77.06% for NTPC’s coal stations, showcasing the operational efficiency and reliability of the Group’s power plants.
Highlighting the Group’s exceptional performance, NTPC also set a new record for single-day power generation on September 1, 2023, producing an unprecedented 1,428 Million Units of electricity. This stellar performance stands as a testament to the expertise of NTPC engineers and the robustness of its Operation & Maintenance practices and systems.
NTPC’s unwavering dedication to delivering reliable and affordable power to the nation is further emphasized by this milestone, reaffirming its pivotal role in meeting India’s electricity needs.
While boasting an installed power capacity of 75.4 GW, NTPC is actively expanding its capabilities, with 18 GW capacity under construction, including 5 GW of renewable energy projects. The Group is committed to achieving a renewable energy capacity of 60 GW by the year 2032, aligning with the nation’s clean energy objectives.
Beyond conventional power generation, NTPC has diversified its portfolio by venturing into new business areas such as e-mobility, Waste-to-Energy, and Green Hydrogen solutions. Moreover, the Group has actively participated in the bidding process for power distribution in Union Territories, further extending its footprint in the power sector.
