Opposition parties have launched protests in response to the rising prices of onions and potatoes

Members of Parliament from opposition parties staged a protest outside Parliament today in response to the rising prices of onions and potatoes. The MPs also demanded a legal guarantee of Minimum Support Price (MSP) for farmers’ produce.

Shiv Sena (UBT) MP Priyanka Chaturvedi, Trinamool Congress MP Derek O’Brien, RJD MP Manoj Kumar Jha, Congress MP Pramod Tiwari, and NCP (Sharad Pawar) MP Supriya Sule were among those participating in the protest. The demonstration aimed to draw attention to the increasing cost of essential vegetables, which the MPs argued is placing a significant financial burden on consumers. Additionally, they highlighted the need for a legal MSP guarantee to ensure that farmers receive fair prices for their crops and achieve economic stability.

The protest underscores growing concerns about inflation and the impact of rising prices on both consumers and agricultural workers. By staging the protest outside Parliament, the opposition sought to pressure the government into addressing these issues promptly and effectively. The government will now face the challenge of responding to these demands and potentially implementing policy measures to alleviate the economic pressures faced by both consumers and farmers.
