GMDA Approves ₹2887 Crore Budget for Development Works

New Delhi, July 10 2024 : The Gurugram Metropolitan Development Authority (GMDA) held its 13th meeting today in Chandigarh, chaired by Chief Minister Nayab Singh. The meeting saw the approval of a ₹2887.32 crore budget for the financial year 2024-25, aimed at accelerating development in Gurugram.

Among the key projects discussed was the expansion of the city’s CCTV camera network from 4,000 to 14,000 cameras at an estimated cost of ₹422 crore, enhancing city surveillance and adaptive traffic management. Additionally, 200 new electric buses will be procured for operation within the GMDA area under the Gross Cost Contracting Model at a cost of ₹69.66 crore.

To address traffic congestion, the construction of flyovers at Sector 45-46-51-52 and Sector 85-86-89-90 junctions were approved, with ₹52 crore allocated for the former. The GMDA also approved a significant upgradation of Tau Devi Lal Stadium at a cost of ₹634.30 crore, aimed at providing ultramodern sports infrastructure.

Other major approvals include:

  • Construction of a 100 MLD Water Treatment Plant Unit No. VI at Chandu Budhera for ₹78 crore and a 100 MLD WTP Unit No. IV at Basai for ₹247 crore.
  • Augmentation of the existing Main Pumping Station to 650 MLD capacity at Dhanwapur for ₹119 crore.
  • A Master Storm Water Drainage System in Sector 76-80 along National Highway-48 for ₹215 crore.
  • Upgradation of the 120 MLD Sewerage Treatment Plant at Behrampur and the 100 MLD STP at Dhanwapur for ₹50.58 crore and ₹75.46 crore respectively.
  • Construction of two 100 MLD STPs in Sector 107 for ₹500 crore.

Chief Minister Nayab Singh emphasized the importance of addressing water-logging during the monsoon season and urged officers to ensure a proper drainage system in Gurugram. He announced plans to personally visit the city to oversee the situation and directed the Chief Secretary to hold officers accountable.

The Chief Minister also highlighted the state’s commitment to making Gurugram a clean and beautiful city. He issued strict instructions for the immediate commencement of efficient garbage collection and management services.

The meeting was attended by key officials, including Town and Country Planning Minister J.P. Dalal, Minister of State for Transport Aseem Goyal, Minister of State for Urban Local Bodies Subhash Sudha, Minister of State for Sports and Forests Sanjay Singh, Chief Secretary TVSN Prasad, Chief Principal Secretary to the Chief Minister Rajesh Khullar, Advisor Urban Planning D.S. Dhesi, ACS Town and Country Planning Arun Kumar Gupta, and GMDA Chief Executive Officer A. Sreenivas. Union Minister of State for Statistics and Programme Implementation Rao Inderjit Singh and Deputy Commissioner of Gurugram Nishant Kumar Yadav attended the meeting via videoconferencing.
