Jhunjhunu (Rajasthan), May 15 , 2024 : An official from Kolkata was killed while 14 others were rescued from a lift that collapsed inside Kolihan mine of Hindustan Copper Limited in Rajasthan’s Neem Ka Thana district, police said. Eight of the 14 rescued suffered injuries and were rushed to Jaipur following the Tuesday night incident in Khetri Nagar area. According to the police, Chief Vigilance Officer Upendra Pandey, who came from Kolkata with a team to inspect the mine, died.
Three people rescued were admitted to Manipal Hospital in Jaipur early Wednesday. Later, five more were rushed to the same hospital. All people trapped in the mine due to lift chain break were taken out, a member of the relief team said. The lift chain broke while the batch of 15 people were leaving the mine on Tuesday night. After the accident, Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma directed the officials concerned to immediately reach the spot, conduct relief and rescue work
Khetri MLA Dharampal Gurjar reached the spot shortly after the incident and helped in the
rescue work.
