There are some Bollywood songs that never fade with time, and Aashiqui remains one of those films whose music still touches millions of hearts. Released in 1990, the romantic drama starring Rahul Roy and Anu Aggarwal became a musical sensation, and even after decades, its songs continue to dominate nostalgic playlists.
One of the most loved tracks from the film, “Nazar Ke Saamne Jigar Ke Paas”, has once again grabbed attention after lyricist Sameer Anjaan shared an interesting memory about its creation. According to him, the iconic romantic number was completed in barely 15 minutes.
During a recent podcast conversation, Sameer recalled that the idea for the song struck him while he was travelling from Maratha Mandir towards Worli. He mentioned that a particular line suddenly came to his mind while stopping at a traffic signal. As the tune started taking shape during the drive, the lyrics flowed naturally, and before the journey ended, the song was almost complete.
The veteran lyricist also revealed that the song later earned him his first Filmfare Award, making the quick writing process even more memorable in his career.
The track became one of the defining love songs of the 90s and is still considered a favorite among Bollywood music lovers. The chemistry between Rahul Roy and Anu Aggarwal in the film added emotional depth to the song, making it unforgettable for an entire generation.
Directed by Mahesh Bhatt, Aashiqui emerged as one of the biggest hits of 1990. Apart from its box office success, the film’s soundtrack achieved cult status and continues to be celebrated as one of the finest romantic albums in Hindi cinema history.
Even after more than three decades, “Nazar Ke Saamne Jigar Ke Paas” remains a timeless melody that instantly brings back memories of classic Bollywood romance.
