India Launches Net Zero Portal and NAPCC Dashboard to Strengthen Climate Action

New Delhi, September 16, 2026: The Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change has launched two digital platforms aimed at strengthening India’s climate action and improving transparency in monitoring national climate initiatives.

Union Minister of State for Environment, Forest and Climate Change Kirti Vardhan Singh launched the India Net Zero Portal and the National Action Plan on Climate Change (NAPCC) Dashboard) in Mumbai on the occasion of World Ozone Day 2026.

The Net Zero Portal will serve as a central platform where Indian entities can voluntarily register and disclose their Net Zero commitments. Participating organisations can report their greenhouse gas emissions, declare Net Zero targets and provide annual updates on their progress.

The portal encourages entities to disclose Scope 1 and Scope 2 emissions, while reporting Scope 3 emissions remains voluntary. Organisations can also outline their transition pathways, including clean energy adoption, energy efficiency measures, technological interventions and carbon removal initiatives.

Entities that successfully declare their Net Zero targets will receive an acknowledgement from the Ministry. The portal will also provide public access to declarations, creating a consolidated repository of voluntary climate commitments across India.

Alongside the Net Zero Portal, the government launched the NAPCC Dashboard to provide a unified digital view of the implementation and progress of various National Missions under the National Action Plan on Climate Change.

The dashboard will bring together mission-related information and key indicators, enabling ministries and departments to track progress, identify implementation gaps and strengthen coordination. It is also expected to help assess sectoral climate action and connect domestic initiatives with India’s international climate commitments.

The two platforms reflect the government’s increasing focus on technology-enabled governance, transparency and evidence-based climate action.

The initiatives are expected to encourage wider participation from Indian entities while supporting the country’s broader efforts towards a low-carbon and climate-resilient future.
