Minor Daughter Detained, Two Arrested for Mother’s Murder in Ranchi

Teen Allegedly Conspired with Boyfriend After Dispute Over Money

Ranchi– Police have detained a minor girl and arrested two persons, including her alleged boyfriend, for the murder of her 50-year-old mother in Jharkhand’s Ranchi district, officials said on Wednesday.

The victim, identified as Nahida Parveen, was a resident of the Manitola area under Doranda police station limits. The case came to light on April 27, three days after the incident.

According to Paras Rana, a complaint was filed on April 26 by the victim’s brother-in-law, who suspected foul play.

During the investigation, police arrested two accused from Gaya in Bihar, including the boyfriend of the victim’s 17-year-old adopted daughter, and detained the girl for questioning.

Officials said the minor confessed to the crime during interrogation, stating that she had conspired with her boyfriend, Arbaz Khan, and his associates.

Police said the girl wanted to marry her boyfriend and had been spending large amounts of money on him. When her mother discovered this and refused to give her more money, tensions escalated.

According to investigators, the girl had already given ₹5 lakh to her boyfriend. On April 24, she, along with the accused, allegedly killed her mother by suffocating her with a pillow.

The body was later buried in a graveyard in the Doranda area on April 26.

Police exhumed the body on Tuesday in the presence of a magistrate. Injury marks were found on the victim’s neck, after which the body was sent to Rajendra Institute of Medical Sciences for post-mortem examination.

Further investigation is underway to identify and arrest other individuals involved in the crime.
