PM Modi Inaugurates India’s Largest Ganga Expressway, Marking Major Infrastructure Leap for Uttar Pradesh

CM Yogi Adityanath says transformative corridor will boost farmers, employment, industrial growth and regional prosperity across 12 districts

Hardoi, April 29, 2026: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday inaugurated the 594 kilometre long Ganga Expressway in Hardoi, officially launching India’s largest expressway project and significantly strengthening Uttar Pradesh’s infrastructure network.

Speaking at the inauguration ceremony, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath described the expressway as a landmark development project that will serve as a catalyst for farmer prosperity, youth employment, industrial expansion and preservation of faith and culture across the state. He said the project reflects the commitment of the double engine government to ensure that every foundation laid is brought to completion.

Stretching from Meerut to Prayagraj, the expressway has been developed with the contribution of more than one lakh farmers from 12 districts, who provided land under a transparent acquisition framework. The state government noted that nearly 18,000 acres were acquired for the main corridor, while an additional 7,000 acres were earmarked for future industrial clusters and logistics hubs.

Yogi Adityanath highlighted that 27 integrated industrial clusters and logistics centres are being established along the route, which are expected to generate substantial investment opportunities and create large scale employment avenues in the coming years.

He stated that Uttar Pradesh’s rapidly expanding road and transport network, including expressways, rapid rail, freight corridors and metro systems, is transforming the state’s economy and making it a key driver of national growth.

Prime Minister Modi also visited an infrastructure exhibition organised by the Uttar Pradesh Expressways Industrial Development Authority, which showcased the expanding expressway ecosystem and future development roadmap for the state.

Officials said the Ganga Expressway is expected to dramatically reduce travel time, improve freight mobility, strengthen interstate connectivity and position Uttar Pradesh as a major logistics and industrial hub in India’s evolving economic landscape.
