CM Nayab Saini Hails Formation of Haryana Assembly Women Empowerment Committee as Milestone Move

Committee aimed at strengthening women’s representation in governance and advancing policy focus on gender empowerment in state

Chandigarh, April 29, 2026: Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini has described the formation of the Haryana Assembly’s  Special Committee on Women Empowerment as a historic step and a milestone for advancing women’s rights and participation in governance.

The committee, constituted by the state assembly following a resolution during a special session, has been designed to review and promote policies related to women’s empowerment across sectors. Officials said the panel will work on strengthening legislative focus on gender equality and ensuring better implementation of welfare and development measures for women.

Saini stated that the initiative reflects the government’s commitment to the vision of inclusive development and aligns with broader national efforts to enhance women’s leadership roles in decision making. He added that empowering women is central to building a progressive and balanced society.

The formation of the committee has been widely viewed as a significant institutional step, with the state positioning itself among the early adopters of structured legislative mechanisms dedicated exclusively to women empowerment.
