Mumbai– A fresh reshuffle in the Bollywood release calendar has given Varun Dhawan’s upcoming film a clear window at the box office. His romantic entertainer Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai is now set to hit theatres on June 5, reverting to its originally planned release date.
The change comes after Yash postponed his much-anticipated project Toxic: A Fairytale For Grown-Ups, which was earlier scheduled to release around the same time. The potential clash between the two films had initially prompted Varun’s team to advance their film’s release to May 22.
Taking to social media, Varun confirmed the update and expressed gratitude to Yash and the production team for facilitating the schedule shift. The actor also highlighted that his film will now be among the first major theatrical releases following the IPL season.
Industry insiders suggest that the delay of Toxic is a strategic decision. While the film is reportedly complete, its makers are focusing on securing international distribution deals and strengthening its global rollout. However, no new release date has been officially announced yet.
With the postponement, Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai now enjoys a relatively uncluttered release window, potentially boosting its box office prospects.
Toxic: A Fairytale For Grown-Ups, directed by Geethu Mohandas, is a period gangster drama featuring Yash in a dual role. The film boasts a strong ensemble cast including Kiara Advani, Nayanthara, Huma Qureshi, Tara Sutaria, and Rukmini Vasanth.
The reshuffle has effectively avoided a high-profile box office clash, allowing both films to maximise their reach and audience impact.
