Amit Shah Casts Vote in Ahmedabad Civic Polls, Urges Citizens to Participate

Ahmedabad : Union Home Minister and Minister of Cooperation Amit Shah cast his vote in the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) elections, calling on citizens to actively take part in the democratic process.

Sharing the update on social media, Shah said he exercised his franchise in the civic polls and appealed to voters to come out in large numbers. He described elections as a “festival of democracy,” urging people to strengthen democratic values through higher participation.

The AMC elections are a key local body contest in Ahmedabad, with political parties vying for control over the city’s civic administration. Such elections play a crucial role in shaping urban governance, including decisions related to infrastructure, sanitation, and public services.

Shah’s appeal echoes broader efforts by authorities and leaders to encourage voter turnout, particularly in urban areas where participation levels can fluctuate. High voter engagement is often seen as essential for ensuring representative and accountable governance at the grassroots level.

As polling continues, attention remains on turnout figures and the response from voters across different wards, which will ultimately determine the composition of the municipal body.
