Pune- Commuters travelling on the Pune-Mumbai Expressway are likely to experience delays due to a scheduled three-hour traffic block implemented for maintenance and infrastructure work.
According to the Maharashtra State Road Development Corporation, vehicular movement was halted on a key stretch near Dongargaon and Kusgaon to facilitate essential repair work. During the closure period, traffic was redirected via the old Mumbai–Pune highway using the Kusgaon toll exit.
Officials confirmed that a similar restriction is being enforced for vehicles travelling in the opposite direction, with diversions planned through Dehu Road and Talegaon. Motorists have been advised to plan their travel schedules in advance and allow additional time for the journey.
Frequent users of the expressway have raised concerns over repeated disruptions. Daily commuters said such daytime blocks often lead to extended congestion, making travel unpredictable and time-consuming.
Authorities, however, maintained that the temporary inconvenience is necessary to ensure long-term road safety and durability. They added that coordination with traffic police is in place to manage diversions and minimise disruption.
The expressway remains one of Maharashtra’s busiest routes, connecting major cities like Pune and Mumbai, and any closure tends to impact thousands of daily travellers.
