3 Killed in Ghaziabad After Bus Rams Thar and Biker on Expressway

Early morning crash on Delhi-Meerut Expressway leaves three dead; driver detained as probe begins

Ghaziabad: A tragic road accident in Ghaziabad claimed three lives on Friday morning after a mini bus collided with an SUV and a motorcycle on the Delhi-Meerut Expressway. The incident occurred around 6 am in the Vijay Nagar area, prompting immediate police response and an investigation into the circumstances leading to the crash.

According to officials, two men travelling in a Thar SUV had reportedly stopped their vehicle along the expressway and were standing nearby when they came into contact with a biker. Preliminary information suggests they may have been asking for directions when a speeding traveller bus struck all three individuals.

The victims have been identified as Naveen Kumar Verma, a resident of Loni Border in Ghaziabad, Deepak Sadana from Rudrapur in Uttarakhand, and Yogesh Kumar, a 25-year-old biker from Delhi who originally hailed from Etawah. All three sustained critical injuries and were declared dead after being rushed to a hospital.

Police officials said the exact cause of the accident remains unclear, and further details will emerge after examining CCTV footage from the area. The driver of the mini bus has been taken into custody, and a case is being registered against him.

Authorities noted that the SUV occupants were related, and the journey involved dropping one of them off before returning. Meanwhile, the bus was reportedly travelling from Tilak Nagar in Delhi towards Haridwar at the time of the incident.

The accident has once again raised concerns about safety on high-speed corridors like the Delhi-Meerut Expressway, particularly regarding vehicles stopping on active carriageways.
