Mumbai: The trailer of Street Fighter has been unveiled, offering a glimpse into a high-energy action spectacle featuring Vidyut Jammwal in his Hollywood debut. The film sees him take on the role of Dhalsim, the iconic yoga master from the globally popular video game franchise.

Set in a stylised world inspired by the original arcade game, the trailer introduces a fierce tournament where fighters from across the globe clash in intense combat. Andrew Koji plays Ryu, while Noah Centineo appears as Ken Masters. The story follows their return to battle after being drawn into a new “World Warrior Tournament,” orchestrated under mysterious circumstances by Chun-Li, played by Callina Liang.

As the narrative unfolds, the tournament reveals a deeper conspiracy, forcing the fighters to confront both each other and their pasts. The film blends exaggerated action sequences with a nostalgic nod to the video game’s aesthetic, promising a mix of spectacle and drama.

The ensemble cast also features Jason Momoa, Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson, David Dastmalchian, Cody Rhodes, and others in key roles. Directed by Kitao Sakurai, the film aims to bring the essence of the arcade classic to the big screen with signature moves and larger-than-life battles.

Fans have reacted enthusiastically to the trailer, particularly celebrating Jammwal’s entry into Hollywood. While some expressed excitement about his action prowess, others hoped to see more screen time for his character in the final cut.

The Street Fighter franchise, first launched in 1987, has remained a global phenomenon, selling millions of copies worldwide. The upcoming film, set to release in theatres on October 16, seeks to revive its cinematic legacy with a fresh, action-packed retelling.
