Faridabad. On the instructions of the Ministry of Power, REC Limited organized a two-day national conference at Bharat Mandapam, focusing on the use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML) technologies in the power distribution sector. NPTI Director General Hemant Jain served as a jury member. Union Power Minister Manohar Lal honored Director General Hemant Jain for his impartial performance as a jury member, a proud moment for NPTI. The national conference, held on December 6-7, 2025, attracted 195 applicants from across the country. Of these, only 51 organizations were given the opportunity to present and exhibit. NPTI Director General Hemant Jain was selected as a jury member to judge the presentations and exhibitions of these organizations.

Top officials, including Union Power Minister Manohar Lal and Secretary of the Ministry Pankaj Agarwal, were present at the national conference. The conference discussed in detail the impact of new technologies on the four major sectors of power distribution: DISCOMs, AMISPs, TSPs, and HASPs. Union Power Minister Manohar Lal Khattar stated that applications based on artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML) can play a significant role in predictive maintenance.
The Government of India is now rapidly expanding the use of artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML) in the power sector. The primary objective is to reduce consumer electricity bills and ensure efficient energy use in the country.
