Washington, November 3, 2025- In an extensive interview with CBS’s 60 Minutes, US President Donald Trump discussed a wide range of domestic and international issues, including nuclear testing, immigration enforcement, and global diplomacy. The conversation, held at his Mar-a-Lago estate in Florida, marks Trump’s first appearance on the network following a legal settlement earlier this year. Trump claimed that Pakistan is among several countries currently conducting nuclear tests, arguing that such developments justify the United States’ decision to resume its own nuclear testing program. He suggested that maintaining deterrence was essential for national security.
Addressing criticism over Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) operations, particularly in Chicago, Trump dismissed reports of excessive force. “If anything, ICE has been held back by liberal judges,” he said, adding that many deportations involved “dangerous criminals” expelled by their home countries.
The US President asserted that China would not attempt any military action against Taiwan during his presidency, citing a mutual understanding with President Xi Jinping. “They know the consequences,” Trump remarked, refusing to reveal his potential response to Chinese aggression.
When asked about Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro, Trump hinted that the authoritarian leader’s “days are numbered,” without confirming whether military action was on the table. “I don’t discuss strikes with reporters,” he said cryptically.
As the government shutdown stretches on, Trump renewed his appeal for Republicans to eliminate the Senate filibuster, claiming it obstructs progress on key legislation. He accused Democrats of “holding the nation hostage” over budget negotiations.
Trump denied allegations that he directed the Justice Department to pursue political opponents such as John Bolton or James Comey, crediting Attorney General Pam Bondi and FBI Director Kash Patel for acting independently.
Referring to Zohran Mamdani, the Democratic Socialist candidate for New York mayor, Trump labeled him a “communist,” adding that federal cooperation with New York would become “difficult” under such leadership. He later joked, “I’m definitely better looking than him.”
The interview, which will air this Sunday, offered a window into Trump’s re-election messaging — blending assertive foreign policy, nationalist rhetoric, and attacks on progressive figures as the 2026 campaign season begins.
