Rajasthan SDM Chhotu Lal Sharma Slaps CNG Worker in Queue Dispute, Escapes Arrest

Clash at Bhilwara CNG Pump Sparks Controversy

Rajasthan– A heated altercation broke out at a CNG pump in Bhilwara, Rajasthan, on October 22, when Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) Chhotu Lal Sharma allegedly slapped an employee, Deepak Mali, after a dispute over vehicle priority in the queue.

Following the slap, Mali and his colleagues — Prabhu Lal Kumawat and Raja Sharma — retaliated, leading to a brief scuffle at the site. Acting on a complaint filed by the SDM’s wife, Deepika Vyas, police arrested the three pump workers under assault and harassment charges.

While the complaint alleged prior instances of misbehavior and harassment by the workers, CCTV footage from the pump reportedly shows that the clash began after the SDM attempted to bypass the queue, prompting the confrontation.

As of October 23, no action has been taken against SDM Sharma, drawing widespread public criticism and debate on misuse of power and selective accountability. Social media users and local residents have demanded a fair and transparent investigation into the incident.
