Health and Family Welfare Minister stated today that India has become the “dispensary of the world,” producing some of the most effective and affordable medicines globally. During the Question Hour, Mr. Nadda highlighted that the government has implemented various measures to bolster the pharmaceutical industry. He mentioned that the Revamped Pharmaceuticals Technology Upgradation Assistance Scheme supports pharmaceutical manufacturing units, and that Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises are being promoted, particularly those with turnovers under ₹500 crores that need technology and quality improvements.
Addressing concerns about the quality of exported medicines, the Minister assured that a robust system of examination is in place, including a sample survey conducted domestically before medicines are exported.
Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla echoed this sentiment, noting the global demand for Indian medicines. He emphasized the need to enhance the quality of these medicines to help India become the leading exporter of pharmaceuticals.
