Delhi, July 26, 2024: The Delhi BJP has intensified protests, demanding Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal’s resignation after three students tragically died in a flooded coaching centre basement in Old Rajinder Nagar on July 27. The flooding trapped students due to a malfunctioning biometric access system.
Protestors, led by Delhi BJP chief Virendra Sachdeva, gathered outside the AAP office, where police used water cannons to disperse the crowd. Women demonstrators expressed anger by banging utensils and demanding accountability. Anu Arora, a BJP worker, criticized AAP for negligence, blaming the Mayor for failing to ensure safety measures and accusing the government of neglecting infrastructure promises.
In Karol Bagh, student protests continued, with UPSC aspirant Sahil voicing frustration over the lack of response from Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) officials. Protestors have called for details about the victims, FIR copies, and compensation, yet no official response has been received.
UPSC aspirant Manish Kumar emphasized that the tragedy could have been prevented and advocated for safer alternatives to biometric systems. Punit Singh raised concerns about inadequate emergency evacuation procedures in coaching centres. The BJP and students demand swift action to address safety failures and prevent future incidents.
