Bengaluru, April 23, 2026: Royal Challengers Bengaluru captain Rajat Patidar has credited the team’s strong start in IPL 2026 to a blend of attacking intent and situational awareness, saying adaptability remains central to their approach.
Speaking about the team’s philosophy, Patidar said that while dominance remains the core mindset, flexibility is what allows the batting unit to perform consistently in different match situations.
RCB have made an impressive start to the season, collecting eight points from six matches, with Patidar leading from the front with the bat. He has scored over 200 runs at a high strike rate, emerging as one of the key performers in the tournament so far.
The skipper noted that his improvement as a batter has been driven more by a change in mindset than technical adjustments. He emphasised clarity in approach and confidence in decision making as crucial factors behind his performances.
Patidar also highlighted that the team does not follow a fixed batting template, instead allowing players to assess conditions and take charge when needed. He said the focus remains on putting pressure on bowlers through instinctive play rather than rigid planning.
On leadership, he described himself as a calm captain who prioritises maintaining a positive mindset among bowlers, especially in high pressure T20 situations.
He added that creating a supportive team environment where every player feels valued has been important for overall performance.Looking ahead, Patidar said the team is focused on staying grounded and continuing its process driven approach rather than getting carried away by early success.
He concluded that maintaining balance between aggression and adaptability will be key as the tournament progresses.
