Faridabad: A remarkable celebration of Hindi Diwas unfolded at Government College Faridabad with a state-level poetry recitation competition, bringing together literary talents from across the region. Organized under the patronage of Principal Dr. C.S. Vashisth and coordinated by Dr. Pratibha Chauhan, the event was graced by the presence of renowned storyteller Dr. Sushma Gupta as the chief guest. The program commenced with the traditional lighting of the ceremonial lamp, followed by poetry performances from 16 participants representing 9 colleges. The distinguished jury panel included Dr. Richa Srivastava, Dr. Rajesh Kumari, Dr. Ankit Kaushik, and Dr. Zorawar Singh, who had the difficult task of selecting winners from a pool of exceptional talent. In her address, Chief Guest Dr. Sushma Gupta emphasized the power of literature in teaching life’s valuable lessons, urging students to immerse themselves in literary works. “Literature is not just a form of expression; it is a way of life,” she said, inspiring the young minds present. The competition saw Tanisha from Government College Tigaon take home the first prize, while the second prize was awarded jointly to Sarika from Government Women College Faridabad and Siddhi from Saraswati Women College Palwal. Saloni from Government College Faridabad secured third place along with Meenu from Saraswati Women College Palwal and Ashu from Government College Ballabhgarh. A special incentive award was given to Deepanshi for her commendable performance.
Dr. Pratibha Chauhan, the program coordinator, enlightened students on the cultural and linguistic significance of the Hindi language, encouraging them to preserve and promote the heritage of Hindi literature. The smooth execution of the event was made possible by Dr. Poonam Ahlawat, who done stage management and event management was done by Nisha Rani, and Usha, Lalita, and Pramila, who handled registrations. The council members, including Dr. Sabina Singh, Dr. Kamla Chaudhary, Dr. Dinesh Joon, Dr. Monisha, Dr. Renu, Dr. Jyotsana, Dr. Upasana, and Dr. Shaileshvar Kaushik, all the professors on duty, Suman Joon, Sangeeta, Nisha Tewatia, Manoj, Anu Khanna, Neeraj, Harvansh, Vishal and all the students of NSS and the Hindi department played an important role. This celebration not only honored the beauty of the Hindi language but also showcased the profound impact literature has on shaping society, leaving an indelible mark on all attendees.
